7 weeks post tx, swollen neck?

Hi all,  

I have been feeling really good post tx until this new symptom popped up a few days ago.  My neck is swollen and painful in the area where my adams apple is.  I don't think it is just a sore throat as it hurts more on the outside than inside.   I had my thyroid checked several times during tx and it was normal.. have an 8 week test for everything plus tsh scheduled next week.   Just wondering if others have had this issue and if it could be a temporary side effect?

Calling my doc momentarily, but wanted the input from the forum too!  Thanks!

Thanks all.. seems like Aaron57 pegged it just about right in my post a few weeks ago about how good I felt post tx, he was afraid it was my thyroid crashing.   Had bloodwork done thursday, go to doc on tuesday.  We shall see.   If still UND giving up my thyroid was well worth it!

Yep agree with the others. That is right where your thyroid is. That is the first place I would start.

I developed Grave's disease during the Telap study, but I had a bulging eye. Happy to say the bulging went down.

Co,  That is what I was thinking.. but didn't realize that the TSH wouldn't pick it up.  Darn.  I have an appt with doc on tuesday. Guess I will have to get more bloodwork.  Pretty painful down my entire esophagus region in the neck area.  Strange that this would occur a few weeks post tx?

Myxedema..same thing as Grave's disease....low thyroid.  You need to have a full thyroid panel not just the TSH.
