I am so glad that you have gone to the ER and that you will come back and tell us that everything was just fine!!!
dontworry_behappy1,lol, I kind of remember someone making a similar comment to another biopsy post! Anyways, thanks! I really do hope that I am wrong or at least helpful.
It isn't even being a "good catch" but rather simple. I get the daily digest in my email at 3am... after my evening nap I have dinner around 3am and every once in a while see these shocking posts!
I know that some get horrible info from health professionals but what do we do? My mother nearly died while she listened to a horrible doctor and she bled internally which put her into a coma. THAT TOOK A LOT OF ENERGY! but ya do what ya have to do...
Good catch Frank. Your a life saver.
Thank you for your reply! It was a nurse who told me it was air and my gastrologist office wasn't concerned since there are no other symptoms. I am going to the ER to make sure all is ok. Thanks!
I am rather shocked that you would let this condition go for this long!
Who told you it was just air? A doctor? the teenager handing out juice?
I just did a google on liver biopsy and bloating! Guess what!? You should be in the hospital! - "complications are rare – experienced in only two to three percent of biopsies" ... then the article goes into the most common complications and guess what is the most common COMPLICATION?!?!
***ABDOMINAL SWELLING OR BLOATING
... after describing other complications the article ends with this suggestion:
"IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS AFTER YOUR LIVER BIOPSY, IT IS BEST TO CONSULT YOUR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE."
Now if it was my health care provider that said it was just "air" I would probably go to the ER and go ASAP!!! Like just after reading this! Forget about calling your doctor or anyone else! Something may have been punctured or something minor but you must take care of yourself.
Please do as the article said and better just get yourself to an ER. OK?
Hopefully it is just air but that has to be taken care of itself!!!
Good luck, frank
Which type of biopsy did you have? Percutaneously (via a needle through the skin), transvenously (through the blood vessels) or directly during abdominal surgery?
Never had this problem myself on either of my biopsies.
