Dear friend,
I would ask your doctor about the vitamins because they could interact with the treatment.
I also have stage 4 cirrhosis hep C. There are two stages in stage 4. Stage 1 Compensation, and Stage 2 Decompensation. I am still in stage 1 of stage 4 cirrhosis liver disease. I also have excess thirst and that could be a sign of diabetes. However, if you've just started the treatment I do not know if that is one of the side effects of the treatment.
You also asked about tips about beating the virus. I'm not for sure about beating the virus, however, if you take good care of yourself nutritionally, physically, and have interests in your life that you enjoy, and if you cultivate good friendships it helps the immune system and life in general.
While on treatment consult with your doctor on supplements. Some do not want you to take any.
Judy
I don't think there's any reason to take E but D is good for helping to keep your bones strong and interferon treatment can be hard on your bones.
There is a lot of information in the archives, try doing a search.
Since you have cirrhosis, I suggest you avoid red meats, eat a very low salt diet, and as healthy, organic non-processed foods as possible. Also avoid foods with iron. Take only vitamins w/o iron. Read labels. Do drink lots of water.
Your liver filters everything, you eat and breath. Use common sense.
