Can you get HepC from vaping?
Hi all,
I've been cured thanks to TMC435. I'm paranoid of re-infection....
I started vaping ecigarettes and yesterday the clerk at the store blew into my device. I made him clean it out before I used it ... He says that he used disenfectant to clean it out. So I used it.
Can hep C be transmitted by inhaling the vapour?

Vaping still contains nicotine which is harmful and addictive. While the jury it still out at the moment Vaping is not drinking a glass of water or eating a piece of fruit vaping is a nicotine delivery system. That is what I am talking about.
The OP did not say they were switching from cigarette to Vaping only that they had starting Vaping so I was under the impression they were taking up a new bad habit rather than choosing a questionable method of trying to quit.

If you smoke and are trying to quit, you're better off with an FDA-approved method of quitting, Drummond says, like the nicotine patch or gum. There's good evidence that they help. E-cigarettes may turn out to be an effective way to quit, but we don't have the proof yet.
If you're not planning to quit, would it be healthier to switch from tobacco products to e-cigarettes? Maybe. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits.

Hepatitis C treatment has made me focus in on viral transmission too. Like cando said "no worries". This kind of experience always makes me question before I relax a bit. Congrats on SVR.
You have no worries there. And congrats on what sounds like you gave up smoking for vaping.

Congrats for curing hep c on Olysio I guess you also took interferon and Ribavirin for 24 weeks
As you probably know hep c is spread by blood to blood contact not by saliva.
Just curious why you would decide after all you have been through to take up an addicting habit that is bad for your health?
But anyway you risk is very low but if you are concerned you will need to take the test for the hep c virus as you will always test positive for hep c antibody since you were once infected.
Take care of the gift of health you have been given that cost tens of thousands of dollars please don't vape it away.
