Cleanse after Hep C treatment

Finished the treatment for Hep C, that included Incevek, on March 1, 2012.  I had a zero viral load at weeks 4, 12, and 24 weeks.
I would like to do a Master Cleanse to get all of the left-over drugs out of my body.  Would doing a cleanse now release all of the meds that are stored throughout my body too quickly, thereby causing toxic shock, or some other type of problem?  I guess I should mention that I had toxic shock in May of last year, as the result of a strep infection.  I don't want to do that again, so I'm asking for a medical opinion.
Thank you!

According to Harvard Medical School, the effectiveness of the Master Cleanse and similar diets remains unproven and serious side effects are common.  Though unlikely to be harmful over the short term it can be harmful over the long term. Short term side effects include fatigue, nausea, dizziness, and dehydration, while long term harm includes loss of muscle mass.  After so much fatigue during tx, this isn't something I'd jump into at eot.

I'd suggest to continue drinking plenty of water, eat healthy foods, begin to exercise if you feel up to it, do some sweating to purge the toxins from your skin.

I have experience with doing lots of cleanses, including the Master Cleanse, and in my opinion (only my opinion, I'm not a doctor) I think the Master Cleanse might be a bit harsh.  My husband completed tx 5 weeks ago, and has done some gentle cleansing - wheat grass, juices, etc. and has had some days where he feels kind of bad, as though the meds are leaving his body.  He had a few days with a reoccurance of his rash, and that sort of general feeling of malaise.  He's feeling great now, but I would err on the side of caution and be gentle with your body.  I know it's tempting to want to blast these harsh meds out, but take it easy on yourself.  And congrats on your UND!

My tx was done at the end of March but I never had any strep infection. and as cheppie pointed out, we have experience about hep C.

Seeing that you were most likely on anti-biotics for the strep you might want to take some probiotics to reintroduce good flora to your system.
You can try doing a gentle cleanse by simply juicing wheat grass, chard, and,or maybe some beets ? Stick with real food.
As far as the supplemental cleanses go, that is outside my experience.

Good luck.

Agree with the above, doctor, and WATER. Just wanted to add that the meds stay in your system for 6 months.  I would guess they continue to work on and rogue virus.  You may also want to consider waiting until you are closer to svr.  Congratulations on finishing. Hope you made it.

As previously mentioned, you really should talk to your doctor about any liver cleanse or anything else you venture into in the hopes of speeding up your back to normal body.  That said, the only thing I have ever heard of that helps is to workout hard and sweat that krap out.  good luck!!

Congratulations on finishing treatment and best wishes for SVR. From the many posts by people post treatment, it seems very important to keep up with continuing super hydration. Talk to you doctor.
Good luck,
C

Members on this forum are either going through treatment, had a family
member in treatment, a friend in treatment or have gone through treatment.
For the medical questions your asking.... I would call my doctor first. Sounds
like you have had some past problems with toxic shock and these questions
are ones you should be asking your doctor.  I think cleansing is a great idea...
I would personally would ask my doctor about that one.
