Sorry to here you have an enlarged spleen (splenomegaly).
Remember, an enlarged spleen isn't a specific disease but a sign of an underlying issue.
I have cirrhosis of the liver, which causes an enlarged spleen. BUT it took me 38 years to get to this point from the Hep virus. So don't worry. There is no rush if it is Hepatitis. Liver disease progresses very, very slowly. A few days won't make a difference as far as your liver is concerned. There are many causes for an enlarged spleen other than Hep and liver disease so if you are still concerned.
Isn't there another doctor at the office who can at least get you setup for testing?
Take care of yourself.
Please follow up and let us know how you are doing.

Yes, you will need to have a hepatitis panel done to determine whether you have hepc. CBC will not show that. Also, a liver panel to determine if your enzymes are elevated. From what you've told me you had a boyfriend who has HepC. Hepc is contracted the majority of the time from blood to blood contact. Sexual transmission is very very low and some doctors believe it not a factor at all. Those of us who have are married or have only one partner are advised not to change sexual habits at all. However, it can be contracted by sharing razors or toothbrushes but circumstances have to be such that the infected blood is transfered directly to the others wound or open sore. Again, not common. I'm not really familiar with other causes of an enlarged spleen. I'm sure the doctor will do some additional tests and hopefully you will know the cause soon.
Best of Luck

Not that I know of. But I am going to have a CBC done to check for HEP C and anything else.
Do you have the hepC or have you been told your liver is damaged?
