Hopeful for the future

Today I signed up for a study treatment trial in Austin to start in Feb. 2011.  The study will include, interferon combined with ribavirin and the study med.  There are two groups, 1 for 12 week treatment and another for 24 weeks.  I will pass on more info as I get it.

I'm not sure who the Dr is; spoke with the nurse Corey and he seems very nice.  The treatment will be at St. David's.  I don't have much information at this time, but I can tell you that I haven't had treatment in the past.  My doctor told me to sign up and I believe the sign up began October 1.  Corey told me to call monthly and more info would be given soon...

Did you have to be treatment naive, or have failed PEGinterferon? Were they accepting people who had only failed NON-pegylated interferon?

Studies are an excellent way to go. If nothing else, you will be monitored very, very closely, and you basically have a team of health care professionals at your beck and call.

Of course, there is just that one nasty little thing - the medicine is experimental. Generally by the time a drug gets to Phase II though, enough people have taken it so you can be pretty sure nothing really drastic is going to happen fast.

Good choice!
