I am also 3a. DIagnosed in 2-09. Stage 0 grade 2.
HAve spent a ton of time on line learning all I can. I will be treating in a month or so.
Some say they wouldn't with my stats but I am older and want to try it before my immune system declines further.
3a's are an easier to cure genotype, but there are also many 3A's who relape.
In most studies until recently they lumped the 2's and 3's together that sort of skewed the results. 2's clear much easier.
Most info I have found indicates that 3A's needs to be on weight based ribaviran becuase flat dosign may not give them as much as they need to achieve viral clearance and svr. They perhaps will also need to consider treating for longer than 24 weeks if their virus is slow to decline.
What kind of doctor will you be treating with. MAke sure he is up to date.
I have found some info on this site. Many past posts by member **** sparrow- who also is a 3a and did not go undectible in 2 prior treatments. CLick on his member profile and you can read the past posts if you'd like.
Lots of doctor level info at the standards in clinical care website- whihc is very directed at doctors doing hepatitis treatment.
Janis and Friends website has many informative areas for newly diagnosed.
Also at the AASLD website you can read the entire standards or care chapters for the AASLD.
Also at I believe it is HEpatitis Choices, they have an book which you can read on line for hepatits patients.
Lots of info out there. Get informed.
