I was told that I had cirrhosis 1 1/2 years ago and so far they have not wanted to treat me my Meld is 10 and my liver is still doing well except for coagulation, I am not on any med's and the only thing I do is watch my diet, my liver enzymes are 1/3 of what they where aug 2009 , no varices, no rashes, some cramps that i relieve with magnesium( i don't get them that often) . Thank you for thinking I look good for 110...lol...some days that is how old I feel.
Thank you Hector...best wishes to you.

No. There is no easy way you increase your platelet count except a platelet transfusion.
If you have such a low platelet count (55,000) it is an indicator of a major health problem. If you have hepatitis C and advanced liver disease it indicates you have cirrhosis. You should be under the care of a hepatologist preferably at a liver transplant center. As you have very advanced liver disease which if not properly managed can be life threatening.  They are the only doctors knowledgeable and experienced enough with liver disease to help you manage your illness.

I hope you are aware how serious cirrhosis of the liver is and if not already under care will find a hepatologist soon.

By the way you look pretty good for 110. ;-)

Good luck.
Hector
