My Hair

Hey all,
I hope your all feeling well and doing really great. Tuesday will be my 6 weeks post and I was wondering just how long its going to take for my hair to stop coming out? at about 3 months into TX I had 10 inches cut off of it. last week I went and had it cut up to the top of my neck hoping that would help. I think I am seeing some new hair growth but it could be broken off hair instead. Its really driving me insane. Ive lost about 70% of my hair during my 24 weeks of TX. I am glad I have some left. My hair is getting oily again.. LUCKY me NOT!  It was great having dryer hair for a while.
On the bright side, energy is returning but I still have the dark circles under my eyes.

Good luck and I wish you all well...

My hair stopped falling out about week 40 but what I have left is totally undesireable!  My hairdresser said I had new growth also about that time.  I guess everyone has different growth and fall-out rates.

Mine is still falling out and I'm just shy of 8 weeks EOT. I was beginning to worry about it but it is slowing down. Hey, I can fit all of it in a small clip now! I try not to wash my hair any more than is absolutely necessary because that's when it comes out the most. Sorry to hear about your hubby's job, but it is good that they let you complete your Tx.

I'm about 7 weeks post tx.  I noticed that as soon as my hair began to get oily, it seemed to start to get healthier, getting thicker and stronger.  I'm also a couple of shades lighter.  I'm sure things will turn around for you soon.

Good Luck - Lynne

My doc appt is the 22nd.. Unfortunately the company my hubby worked for that kept the insurance for me to do TX downsized and let him go 3 days after my last riba dose. (I think they kept him because of my TX because they had let a bunch go already) I had to cancel the last appt because I didnt have the money to go. BUT I am back to work and he is working again as well. So I cant wait to hear those results either. lol
I have been seeing some curly hairs on my head and wondered why. My hair has always been straight as a stick, in fact my beautician always had to put hot towels on my head to get my perms to hold so curly would be welcome now!
I will try the camouflage. Something needs to help. I look like a zombie but wow has my appetite returned and I dont know how to stop it lol.. Ill post my latest pic for you.

Ill keep you informed! *hugs*
Rhonda

PS Thank you all for your answers... It comforts me.

Hi dear Rain!

I can't help with the hair stuff, except to say my hair is now perfectly straight, even though it was always curly. My hair guy says he's seen this with cancer chemo clients and that eventually my curls will return. (I'm not sure how I feel about that, since I always hated my curls but now it's so strange to not work my butt off to straighten them with a huge brush and hotter than hot hair dryer.)

So my prediction is I think your beautiful hair will return with vim and vitality in a short while.

As for the dark circles, I find a yellow-based camouflage is best. If it seems too yellow, then you can put a thin layer of a more neutral color over the yellow. (The yellow counteracts the blue, which is causing the darkness.) Remember, less is more, so use a very light touch.

Thinking of you warmly and wanting to hear those results,

Susan

I lost hair too.  Mine fellout/broke off  after I stopped tx also for some time.  No real set time for that to stop unfortunately.

It can be hard to tell if it is new growth or breaking off, I had the same problem.

Good news is that I am 2 years UND next month and my hair is long and extremely healthy!  I still try not to stress my hair too much with blowdrying and curling though.

I too lost about 75-80% during treatment.  Now it grows like a weed and I can't stop it.  It's almost annoying if you can imagine that cause I have to get my roots done so often!

Hang in there - remember this is temporary.  Once you're done with treatment it should start to grow so fast and furious you'll be shocked. It's like getting a second chance and having all brand new hair (of course I ran out and bleached mine again so fast that now it's not anymore but after not having any for so long and wearing wigs every day Ijust wanted to play with it!).

You'll be fine so hang in there.
