Only a doctor who can do a physical and various medical tests can diagnose the cause of pain in the abdomen.
Get an appointment and see a doctor. Pain is a sign that something is wrong.
hector
The liver doesn't have any nerve endings, so itisn' your actual liver that is hurting, but it could be the area surrounding your liver, due to your liver being swollen, and pressing on these areas, or it could be your spleen bothering you.
If your liver is inflamed (your liver enzymes tests will be abnormal as you say, indicating liver injury and inflammation) it will likely be pressing on other organs nearby that have good pain sensory's but it could also be an indication you have gallstones and that your gallbladder is inflamed as well. You could get some scans, as I'm sure you will be if you were just diagnosed, to determine the size and density of your liver and state of surrounding organs. If they do a biopsy to see the extent of the damage, you will know more about the stage of damage you are at. Most people don't know they have the virus until random testing shows abnormalities and the drs run the virus test. The liver has so very little if any pain, and usually it is the swelling and inflammation that gives a clue there is something wrong.
Take care and let us know how you are doing...C
Although we are all different, I almost died from decompensated cirrhosis and never had any liver pain.
Just because you have hep C doesn't mean that your pain isn't from other causes, like a pulled muscle, for example.
Your recent diagnosis, has probably made you jumpy but the reason so many of us don't know we have the virus until our livers are severely damaged, is there are so few symptoms.
