Timeing of Blood tests

Anyone have to change their date of blood work.  I was getting it done on the Thursday and had my shot of Pegus and Eprex on the Monday.  New real nurse suggested change it to Monday morning before shots take do blood work then shots.  She said if I was working and it was Monday to Friday then would change around to Bood and Friday morning, shots Friday night, would give me two days to recover if side affects.  Much peace of mind knowing you are finally getting good advice,  HGb is 81 wbc 2.4 anc 1.4 plats 166 Bili 11 alt 80 creat 116 and tsh 3.02 started out at geno type 1 27 mil down at wk 4 to 9mil

I started off one shot rib 7 pills, blood dropped from 134 to 97, lowered pills to 5 a day, blood dropped to 85, lowered rib to 4 a day 2 in morning 2 at supper, waited for Trillium OK for Eprex, At week 4 did blood for viral load results did not come in until week 6 by that time only on 4 rib.  Doctor said could not start victrellis until Hemo was at least 90, so I am started week 8 still on one shot of peg, and 4 pills of rib, no Victrells, Viral load came in from week 4 at what I posted second time, 9.  One one shot of Eprex for next 8 weeks to help hemo, and not started Victrellis, most of problems were due to first nurse I had from Access which is out to lunch.  I will be picking up rec for viral load this Friday for week eight and do blood work in morning of Monday coming.  If you think this is confussing it should be normal for this agency and nurses as the Ontario report came in that in Sudbury we have more clients that have a high resistent to treatment of Aids than rest of ontatio.   correlation in recovery and agencies down falls are definitely linked

Willy did you start Vic and then have to stop?  If you HGB dropped to 8.1 did they mention Expex and possibly reducing Riba?  (I am not a fan of reducing Riba at all)!  I don't understand why they would stop your Vic?

What were your VL at 4 and 8 wks?

Oops sorry I meant to erase the question asking you about your four week labs. But I don't get the part about not taking your Victrelis.

There is a lot of support here if you have questions.
Best of luck to you.

I don't get the treatment protocol you are following. In your profile it says you started treatment on 21 Sep as of today that is 51 days. Did you have a viral load on (or around) your treatment start date? How about the four week point?

Anyway, in your first post you indicated:
" I am on week 8 ofPegays Victrelis triple thearapy, only I am not doing the Vietrelis as my Hemo dropped from a start low of 134 to 81"
and that you started the Epex on Monday. Epex Epoetin alfa can take a few weeks to raise your haemoglobin.

I was wondering if anyone perhaps suggested lowering your dose of Riba to help boost your Haemoglobin. When are you supposed to start your Victrelis? I could be misunderstanding the situation but off hand something sounds off.

Do you know what your four week labs were?

I think I made a mistake.  original in May 2012 before treatment was 1.70 E +7 IU/ml last result was 9.69 E+3 IU/ml So original would be 17,000,000 and last would be 9,690

Hi bill..
As james has correctly advised the blood draws are of little significance .
However I saw the following at the end of your post:

"geno type 1 27 mil down at wk 4 to 9mil ";

If this is correct and you are on Incivek the 'futility' rules on the prescribing protocol of this drug says you should cease treatment as there is  no response and continuing may enhance resistant variants

if you are on the other 'protease drug Victrelis and this is your 4 week lead in response there is also very little response to Interferon /Riba and your chances of overall success are highly diminished

I never like to give bad news ,however to continue with these numbers could be futile and should be discussed immediately with your treating doctor

Good luck.....
Will

Treatment futility
Patients with inadequate viral response are unlikely to achieve sustained virologic response, and may develop treatment-emergent resistance substitutions
Discontinuation of therapy is recommended in all patients with either of the following circumstances:
HCV-RNA levels >1000 IU/mL at treatment weeks 4 or 12, OR
HCV-RNA levels detectable at treatment week 24
