cautious optimism / update

Hi All,

It's been a while since I posted, so I wanted to update my sitch...

I'm 51yo WM, GT1a, infected over 30 years, possible early cirrhosis -- partial EVR, but not SVR, the last two times I treated.

I was enrolled in the Alinia study, where I failed to achieve a 1-log drop at 4 weeks.  I was dropped from that study after 8 weeks of PEgasys + 100mg RBV.

My VL started at 35,000,000 -- at the 8 week mark was at around 5,500,000.

My doc started me right away on Infergen, 15ug daily, plus 1400mg RBV.  After 8 weeks of this, my VL has continued to drop and the 8 week milestone was 192,000.  My HGB is sinking like a stone, it's gone from about 14.5 baseline and now it is about 9.9.  I get short of breath walking across the room!

So, I just found out my insurance has pre-approved my script for Procrit, 40,000 units per week -- so I should be starting that in a couple of days.  Hopefully, this will perk me up enough to continue working full time, and hopefully, my VL will continue to drop!

Hope everyone is feeling well!

Hi Neptune - great to hear from you.  I've been wondering how you've been getting on since you stopped with the trial.  Good to hear your doc is on the case and you are doing well,

Sorry -- typo in the graf about the Alinia study above.  I was taking Pegasys 180 ug/week, plus 1200 mg RBV per day.
