elevated sgpt

I am a 39 old male 8 kg..in Nov 2009 i tested liver profile and it showed slight increase(70) in SGOT. I am a slight drinker who took i wine glass a day regularly.
In jan 2011 when i tested thes same there were 500 on SGOT and 400 in SGPT levels
.then i compleatly stopped alchohol
after ONE mnth the results were 110 SGOT 50
Again after another one month the levels went to 168 and 83. But these days i had a viral cough.
I have a genetic history of my father having NASH
What can b the reasons for my sgpt elevations

Have you been tested for viral hepatitis? If not you should get tested. NASH is also a possibility. Ask your doctor to test you. Your labs indicate that there is something going on in your liver. And stopping alcohol is a very good idea.

do you have  a risk factor for hep b or c?

hep B is a classic STD and is easily transmitted through sex.  hep C is a blood borne

virus.  Most efficient means of transmission is blood tranfusion before 1992 and sharing

needles, cookers, cotton balls etc for IVDU.
