One last time Huh /  As a reward for being good ? What if you have a bad day? It's your liver I wouldn't expect to hear positive feed back  I want to drink one more time too I just know it's not enough  is one more time enough for you?

I'm on treatment and had a great glass of non-alcoholic wine with dinner
last night.  Sparkling Organic Pear, R.W. Knudsen.   Did I say that it taste
better than wine and no hang over : ).   Someone on this forum told me
I could drink after finishing treatment.   Didn't really drink before treatment
and after going through this treatment (not for the weak minded)....  I would
NEVER drink alcohol EVER again in my life.   One alcoholic drink takes
months to process though your liver.  I'm not drinking alcohol... no matter
whose birthday it is. : )  Drink water if your thirsty.
Happy Birthday

You just need to decide if you are going to take care of your liver or not.  Alcohol will hurt your liver and speed up the process of liver damage.  Your decision.  Also, doctors will not treat Hep C when patients drink alcohol.

No matter what anyone here says you are going to "drink one last time".

I have a feeling it wont be your last time. Hope I'm wrong.

Best of luck

I gotta say at 23 years of age it was pretty tough for me to obstain from anything. You already know the answer to the question, it's best not to drink. If you have a drinking problem it might kill you before the hep c does in one way or another. Do your best Dusty, what else can you do!

I read your post and told myself, don't judge, have an open mind and the "horse" posted his reply and I erupted into volcanic giggles.
I really hate being mean to people, Dusty but the question was asked and I repeat it-Why did you ask us? You ask, you don't like the respectful answers anymore than the humorous ones...do you really expect to be taken seriously?
Count your blessings kid and get over it!

Would you pour gasoline on your liver and lite it on fire? That's what my Doc's told me that drinking alcohol with HepC is like,  pouring gas on your liver and lighting it  on fire. Your choice and good luck.

"if i drink this one last time will i die or something"

How can alcohol be blamed for 100,000 deaths each year?

5% of all deaths from diseases of the circulatory system are attributed to alcohol.
15% of all deaths from diseases of the respiratory system are attributed to alcohol.
30% of all deaths from accidents caused by fire and flames are attributed to alcohol.
30% of all accidental drownings are attributed to alcohol.
30% of all suicides are attributed to alcohol.
40% of all deaths due to accidental falls are attributed to alcohol.
45% of all deaths in automobile accidents are attributed to alcohol.
60% of all homicides are attributed to alcohol.

(Sources: NIDA Report, the Scientific American and Addiction Research Foundation of Ontario.) Also see Alcohol Consumption and Mortality, Alcohol poisoning deaths, CDC report,
100,000 deaths. That's more than a statistic. That is 100,000 individuals with faces. 100,000 individuals with lives not fully lived. 100,000 individuals grieved by mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and children. Every year.

Go to the FAS Resource Center Main Page

Now tell me how can anyone really answer that question

I've always had a problem with alcohol. When I was diagnosed with HCV I knew I had to stop because it impedes the medication & I wanted to give it the best shot I could & & I did.......

So I've failed treatment at my twelfth week labs after being a good boy & not cheating...doing everything I could to kill this thing. Still my next shot is going to be when GS-7977 comes out.......

Since I have a history of alcohol & have been a boozer, ever since I can remember, I'm going to continue to abstain....maybe NEVER go back......This is the 1st time I've been free of it since I've been a teenager.

I haven't mind this stoppage in the flow of beer at all.....I have a higher callin' & that is to beat this Hep C virus. That is my higher priority.

You're only kiddin' yourself if you think you can stop at one, but if you can.....all the more power to ya. I'm not made that way.....
You're only helping yourself by NOT drinking while you have hepatitis.....I'm not saying you should never drink.......just not while on treatment with hep.. & while waiting for SVR.....
Adding alcohol to hepatitis is like sprinkling Miracle Grow on it........you'll make the disease flourish.

This is just my humble opinion & is not aimed toward anyone......
This is the way I feel about it & this is what I'm doing to help myself.
Join me if you like.................

Drinking appears to be an important part of your life.  If you keep asking the same question over and over, yes, you may need some help.  Otherwise, do as you wish, since you will anyway.

its your choice....i used to drink all the time.  but now seeing what the consequences are and really wanting to be around to see my kids and grandkids grow up, you gotta make a decision that your life is more important than the drink.  i wish i could get back the years i partied while knowing i was sick...but thinking "hey whats this gunna hurt"...for me it hurt alot...now i finally pulled my head outta my a** and am focusing on my future....its all about choices.

The problem isn't one last drink or even one last bender. The problem is the mind set.
If alcohol means so much to you, then that is your problem especially since you have hep C.
Drinking when you have hep C is like pouring gasoline on a fire.

It's your liver and your life. Do what you choose.

Don't know how much you drink so unless you drink yourself into a stupor I would say you  probably won't die. But it certainly won't do your liver any good.

Why are you asking us when you know you are going to do it anyway?  You dont need our permission you said your doctor said it's fine so why listen to us or even ask us?

We have given you the same answer over and over.  You are looking at people who are fighting for their lives and it's like spitting in their faces.

do what you want.
