Try and refill them a week early so you still have a shot in the fridge. At this point it's the least they can do for you - if you have to talk to someone at customer service I'd definitely do it, just for peace of mind's sake.
Congrats I'm glad they FINALLY got there........how many days late? Jez.
Very cool! Like JD sez, keep on top of them to avoid a repeat of this craziness next month. Best to you, Jonney—
Bill
I'm glad you got that settled. Stay right on top of them so next month they don't do the same thing!

hi all! got my shots yesterday as promised, but still waiting on the phone call from upper management and wanted to thank you all for your support. i see doc in the morning and will discuss this problem with them.
jonney
40,000 units but they transcribed it wrong and kept giving her 4,000, confusing everyone and keeping her with low miserable HGB for 6 mos. until she gained weight and the scrip was upped to 50,000.
You have to be SO careful with all scripts these days. On treatment my prescription of procrit read take one shot DAILY. I can't imagine what would have happened to me if I had. As it was it was suppposed to read twice a week so they REALLY screwed up big time. If someone took Procrit every day like that I just can't imagine what would happen to them.
yes i did log on to site and I can never get information, it's always in the red saying that information was not available to check back later.
I am having similar problems with Walgreens screwing my infergen refills... It took them 12 days to get it right, and every time they were promising "tomorrow you will be able to pick it up"... I didn't have this problem with them when I was on pegasys, but infergen seems to be a different story.
Thank you for posting this jonney....I hopped on the pharmacy site the other day to look at my past mail order of neupogen and saw that I would be able to order it soon. However, it would not be shipped until it is eligible for refill, which is Nov. I intend to order early but also will double check on the status of it as it gets closer to Nov... Is there anyway you can track your mail order prescription by logging on to the site? Just a thought....thank God your dr had an extra one for you!!! Take care and thank you again for the post.
I have blue cross blue sheild. The pharmacy is Special design Health Care. They are great. They always call me 2 wks in advance to see when to ship. They say they are also giving me the meds 1/2 price. Not sure why. I pay 80.00 a month. hope you have better luck
No, you are NOT blowing things out of proportion!!! Have you checked with your doc to see if they have any extra to give you until your meds come? I am so sorry you have had to deal with this. I'm not sure if I would have stayed sane if I didn't have a shot to take on the day I needed it.
Let us know when you get your meds.
You should have freaked out. Is it possible for you to change pharmacies (don't know your situation)? I've got a story nearly as bad: my mom move crosstown and switched her prescriptions to a closer Walgreens. She was on procrit for 40,000 units but they transcribed it wrong and kept giving her 4,000, confusing everyone and keeping her with low miserable HGB for 6 mos. until she gained weight and the scrip was upped to 50,000. Walgreen's then noticed the mistake and called and apologized but that was 6 mos. out of her life thrown away. Stay on them

yes good idea, i was thinking of that yesterday, i think i found the numbers from an old post of nygirl. i will keep you all informed of this, it's almost like a slap in the face from these people..............
I agree you should hold United Healthcare accountable, but meanwhile let's get you some meds. I think you should call the 800 number for free meds at Scherign Plough (or the other mfgr) and explain your dillemma - maybe they will help ensure that you get enough meds to keep you current while this snafu is sorted out.

Our company did the same thing - more $$$ out of our pockets and way less better insurance (and copays and stuff). SO not right!
Oh thank God you got the shot from the doc I missed that part completely in my rage........it makes me go blind I get so mad at this behavior it just really does.
It's just so hard as it is, who needs all the extra problems when they are dealing with so much already! And you're right what if it was heart medication Lord God you could be dead and who's fault would that be?
I'm so glad you are so determined! :)
yes i am going to try to get to bottom of this. I had no problem whatsoever with cigna (and the mail orders and specialty orders) and they called everyday to where it got on my nerves, but now i appreciate it, and my company switched to united health care which has turned into a nightmare and costs more!!! if they are trying to get me to give up because these meds are so expensive than they have another thing coming!! Yes i did get shot on friday from doctor, but what if i were diabetic all alone or had heart problems and needed that medicine???
by the way I agree, I would find out someone to lodge a formal complaint with. These are life saving medications and even if it doesn't necessarily help you at the moment - it could help somebody down the line.
Heppers gotta stick together!!!!!!!
Well it doesn't help you much now WHAT they do does it! This is why we always always always tell you no matter what to make sure you have an extra (either refill them a week early or start a week later so you can do that).
Pharmacies and mail order are NOTORIOUS for screwing these things up. They just don't care/know/whatever how important who they are.
Take your shot as soon as you get it. Seriously...idiots idiots idiots this makes me SO MAD.
