What copyman said is correct and I'm very sorry.  He is going through end stage liver disease and his liver has become decompensated which means it no longer performs the functions required by the liver which is primarily filtering toxins out of the body.

Be there for him because soon he may not recognize who you are so try to spend as much quality time with him as possible.  You may want to talk with your mom to make sure all his affairs are in order.

Heartfelt thoughts to you and your family,
Trinity

Sorry you are going through this. Your dad is in end stage liver disease. everything you say your dad is doing is what happens when the liver is at the end. The sad thing is that they will not offer a transplant to an alcoholic. The patient had to be sober for 6-12 months before even being considered.

Just make him as comfortable as possible until the end.

There aren't any doctors here, but what you say sounds like his liver has about had all it can take. His color changes and mental state sounds like his liver isn't able to do its job any more. Why isn't he in the hospital? That is such a load for your mom to carry. I'm sorry I can't say anything to encourage you... Just love him and be there for your parents all you can.
