Protected Sex with a Masseuse

Hey Docs and Others,

In my drunken stupor, a few friends and I made the mistake of going to an exotic massage parlor late one morning. After being bathed by the masseuse, I was taken into a room where the woman performed protected oral and vaginal sex. There was no condom breakage and the encounter was by no means vigorous and lasted no longer than 20 minutes. I had been to this location over a year ago and upon similar post anxiety took a full panel test with completely negative results 8 months after my first experience. I don't know what I was thinking deciding to go back. I seemed to have forgotten that my mind can't handle this sort of behavior. I'm just worried that after having this encounter I may have contracted herpes considering the risk often associated with a prostitute. My girlfriend and I have not seen each other in months, and now I fear that I may pass something on to her for my stupid mistake. I would never forgive myself if she had to pay for my infidelity. Sorry if I am just paranoid. I don't mean to waste anyone's time. It has just become all that I think about. I have no symptoms except some itching around my entire body, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was just mental. This encounter took place 3 days ago. Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

if your herpes testing was negative previously, odds are if you had contracted herpes from this encounter it would present with very obvious and "classic" symptoms within 2-20 days of the encounter.  no obvious symptoms, odds are you didn't contract herpes.

Great to hear! In my shameful encounter, I had protected oral and 2 minutes of protected sex until I stopped. I have another partner. Are my chances low enough to forget about this and move on?

the virus is introduced into the body through the heat and friction of sex. it takes more than a few minutes and condoms do help to reduce the risk even though they aren't 100% protection.

Hi Grace, can you elaborate why a one time protected encounter with a prostitute poses so little risk of contracting herpes? What would constitute sufficient risk in such an encounter? Must there be friction during protected sex? Thank you in advance for all the useful information. Your posts have taught me a lot

this is not the doctor's forum - you have to pay to post there.

the risk of a one time protected encounter is very low. if you didn't have another partner, I wouldn't even recommend testing for it.  cover your bases with syphilis testing anytime after 6 weeks post encounter and herpes igg blood testing after 3 months post encounter.  we don't have any way to test you for hpv which was your only other risk from this.

we recommend protected sexual contact because it works! going to a place where they perform protected oral and genital sex means they are taking proper precautions and odds are their girls are tested regularly too to protect clients.

no std causes itching all over your body.
