Hello
I am currently waiting out an HIV scare, but as I do, I review certain "symptoms" that may have occurred over a period where I was a little but promiscuous.
This specific question is in regards to herpes and is why I am posting it in this forum.
I was intimate with another ale and we engaged in unprotected felatio.
Afterwich my entire tongue felt as though it had pins and needles it it. I could also describe it as burning or stinging. The onset was fairly gradual (a day maybe) and it started out as if I was getting a canker sore on the tip of my tongue. However, I have had canker sores before and once the entire tongue felt enflamed I knew it wasn't that. I believe the duration was 3 days once the entire tongue was affected to 5 days, so maybe 5/6 days total. I had trouble eating certain foods and the experience was far from pleasant.
What I can't remember is the time in which I started to notice the tingling of the tongue post my sexual encounter. It could have been 3 days or roughly a week later.
I had a physical about 7 weeks after and I tested positive for HSV-1 (which I never had tested positive for before) and negative for HSV-2.
My question is this - is this a typical presentation of a recent herpes infection and if not typical, is it possible? Does herpes affect the tongue potentially in this way?
Thank you for your consideration and replys.
