Herpeselect is a little quicker in the first few weeks post infection but the WB rapidly catches up. 16 weeks is conclusive for the WB.
Catinbarefeet, I heard WB can take a little longer to convert positive than Herpeselect - but you're saying the 16 weeks is sufficient?
Hi. The Western Blot is the most accurate blood test you can get for HSV. If you have a negative result at 16 weeks, you do not have HSV-2. It's possible that your blisters are HSV-1, but if you've had cold sores since before the encounter, the blisters would have been from an old infection - one you got at the same time as you got the oral infection, or soon after.
However, my best guess is that it's something other than HSV. You should have it looked at to rule out other conditions. The very next time you get a new blister in the area, go and have it swabbed for a PCR DNA test, if you want to be absolutely sure. Good luck.
At 19 weeks a WB won't tell you any different to the 16 week test. Receiving oral sex is almost no risk of HSV2 as it so rarely exists there, and sheds even more rarely. It would be better if you asked the partner to test to eliminate your concerns.
Also, yes guys get yeast and fungus issues.
Do guys get yeast issues? It's been 19 weeks now....think I should get retested, I'm in a relationship I wouldn't want to spread something.
Pretty much zero chance oh HSV2. Also incredibly unlikely to be HSV1 as well if you get cold sores orally. You could ask for a swab of some fresh sores for HSV to give you confidence.
Yes these could easily be pimples or irritation of your hair follicles. Maybe you're prone to yeast.
