If you sit here searching for info online you are destined have back pain I have back pain right now from scoliosis and herniated disc I would suggest see a neurologist for your sensations but I think they are anxiety related when I was anxious I had leg aches back aches chills shooting pains which all turned out to be unrelated
Wondering if anyone could describe their experience with herpes prodromal back pain? I've been experiencing muscle aches about 3 inches above my butt, in the small of my back. Lasted about 3 weeks now. The pain isn't constant, but rather, it aches whilst bending. In these 3 weeks, i've experienced red rashing and bumps on the foreskin following intercourse. Shown the doctor but dismissed as friction. Never had friction issues like it before, however..
Thanks man,
I appreciate all you're help. I think i'll look into getting another blood test, or be more assertive about a swab if this shows up again... (hopefully it doesn't!)
It's been over 16 weeks post-exposure now, so the blood test should be as reliable as its going to get at this point.
Herpes sores almost always ulcerate though, it is actually the bump part that goes unnoticed and people mistake open sores for razor cuts. Do not diagnose yourself. Dr. HHH as on of the top STD experts (he used to be The leader expert Herpes forum on Medhelp) states that even the best experts have a diagnosis accuracy of 70-80 % an these people see examples everyday still make mistakes because of variety of skin conditions and infections if MDs misdiagnose you or me cannot decide on visual appearance, insist on having a culture and and trust the HSV2 tests good luck
I meant to say Herpes isnt the only skin condition... my keyboard is messed up sorry
Type specific IgG for HSv2 is almost golden standard and has much less negative rates than swabs however if a swab comes back positive it is definetely positive. You have to get you lesions tested within 48 hours an negative lesion while blisters are present and type specifiv test are what you should do. Also go see a dermatologıst or an std clinic who are more informed and experienced about variety of skin infection than anyone else. only skin condition out there but definitely trust the Elısa for HSV2. Happy to help
Thanks for the response,
Yeah, if I wasn't having lesions then i'd be content to forget about it and move on. Unfortunately I am, but doctors are unwilling to swab them as they are not "typical" for herpes (red patches & bumps w/o blistering or ulcers)... although it seems as though herpes is largely difficult to define based on appearance alone. Regardless, if the test truly is 95% accurate I should try to move past it. Main cause for concern is that the test is free, so I've been worried that its almost just a hoax and I should shell out the $200 for a type specific one.
Bro if this is HSV2 your test is 97 % accurate and 90% for HSV1 at this point. In the absence of symptoms and negative test results at 12 weeks is as conclusive as it can get. By 12 weeks 95% people have seroconverted and it comes down to tests ability to detect them accurately. By 16 weeks virtaually everyone will have seroconverted. You would expext at şeast and equivocal or a low positive from a 12 week test and thats even a sow antibody producing which I think Grace said that if you are bad at producing antibodies you would likely have had a a more severe infection with a reccurence at this point or at least symptoms an you are neither pos or symptomatic. And no From ages 14-49 53-80 % of people have Hsv1 definetely not 90% not anymore. 15-25 % for hsv2 from ages 14-149 (what These numbers mean is that as age goes up the infection rates go up with a similar ratio) But that number could be correct for sexaully active adults above the age of 30-40
Thanks for the response.
Well i've had chicken pox, and my test came back negative at 12 weeks. I've read that only 70% of people will have seroconverted by this time, however. Not sure if this is prior to updates made to the test, or weather or not the test has been updated at all. I had assumed it would come back positive, considering 90% of people have hsv1, and was made skeptical by the negative result because of this, as well as based on the swab / test differentials i've read about on other posts.
Elsa is very accurate in any lab performing it and having a non specific test would even pick up more herpes strains like the chicken pox virus and those with positive swabs and negative blood would infer its a recent infection.
