not sure they really have a good reason as to why it happens I don't think. Terri Warren ( the herpes expert on medhelp ) would be a better person to ask that question to but you have to pay to talk to her ( I"m cheap and easy....he he he ).

Is it known why it causes these false positives? Is it because of HSV-1 infection being dormant in the system?
Yes I would get the WB in the future when you test just to avoid the stress and extra testing.
chronic vaginitis can cause the skin to thin and tear easily in the genital area. Continue to follow up on your gyn issues with your gyn to get to the bottom of that part of all of this.

I understand the WB trumps the IgG but does this mean I will always need to get the WB done for future partners to show I'm HSV-2 negative? It was a low positive well close to the cut off line, 3.9 but at the time I did have an active herpes lesion on my lip. Don't know if that makes a difference? What if I continue to get the IgG test done and it still continues to give me a low positive? Will I have to continually ship my blood out for WB, to assure my future partners I don't have HSV-2?
The Western Blot trumps the IgG (and I assume you had the WB because of a low positive IgG?).
So now as Betsy said, now you know that something else is going on. You know you had a "low" yeast, and quite honestly your symptoms sound like classic yeast symptoms.
Yes I've treated it several times, the cuts are every few weeks but the discharge and itchiness is constant. Also, I was wondering if I showed positive for HSV-2 on the IGG test will I always show positive even though the Western Blot confirmed me negative for HSV-2?
If you are still having symptoms, you need to go back and be retested. Did you treat your yeast when you were diagnosed as having it?
it's not likely hsv1 genitally is causing all these non-stop symptoms for you.
