it's still fine that you had the captia test at 3 months - it's still pretty darn accurate at that point.
I'm still confused. I see several pots that say only the herpes select is accurate at 3 months. I had the captia. Why are other posts saying in this case 4 moths is accurate with a test other then herpes select
yes you were swabbed for herpes. My point was, no more blood testing for herpes since it's not likely you really have it. they can repeat lesion cultures of symptoms if they think anything you are seen for is possibly herpes.
Isn't the swab I had a lesion culture?
I wouldn't bother with more herpes testing. be seen every time you have symptoms for a proper exam. if they suspect herpes at any point, they can do a lesion culture and typing for you.
Im also realazing that I forgot I already asked you this question on january 5th!!! please forgive me!!! Stil, any further comments on weather I should do a 4 month captia hsv igg test would be appreciated. Ive had no issues what so ever since. Should I still be checked for BV or a yeast infection?
No she did not. I did tell her that I had no symptoms like pain, pain when urination, increased discharge, etc so she maybe she decided to not test me for bacterial infections or yeast infections. I was on antibiotics for my strep...but I didnt start them until a day after i noticed the sores. what are your thoughts?
did your gyn also test you for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally when you were seen?
I have another follow up question.
About one week after my last question and my 12 week captia hsv igg, I was diagnosed with strep throat and on the same day noticed two small ulcer type sores on my outer labia. I also had worn a very tight skirt, tights and a thong and remember it rubbing at times. Two days after getting strep and noticing the sores, I went to my PCP who said he thought they looked like swollen glands. and based on the fact that I had two negative hsv igg ( 1 at one month and one at 3 months past exposure) that he had low suspicion for herpes. 3 days after noticing the sores I went to my obgyn, who made the same comments that my PCP did and went ahead and did a viral hsv culture swab and said she would be surprised if it was negative...and it was. Ive read that those swabs should be done with in 48 hours. Is my swab accurate even though I went 3 days after? I guess there is a chance the sores were there a couple days before I actually noticied them. When the swab was done, these sores did not look like the were healing yet or developing scabs. The sores healed about 3-4 days later.
My question is if I should do a 4 month captia hsv igg ( Ive read this is when THIS test is accurate) or if after 2 negative igg and 1 negative swab there is a very very low chance that there is still a problem.
really no reason to think this is herpes going on. continue to follow up with your providers for symptoms.
October- last sexual exposure
Novemebr- negative hsv2, hiv, syphillis, gonnorhea and chlamydia tests (30 days after last sexual exposure)
December ( 79 days after sex) negative hsv2 and hiv
A few days after my question I was diagnosed with strep throat. I also happened to notice slight sensitivity when using toilet paper. I did notice 2 small abcess on the left labia where the bartholin gland is. The next day I wend to my GP and, based on the fact I had negative tests, he said it was probably a swollen gland that causes a small abcess. The next day I went to my gyno and she said the same thing (knowing about my negative tests) but did a hsv culture just to be safe which came back negative. About 4-7 days the sores healed, but yesterday I noticed they were back but much smaller and still painless. I started my period today. Do you have any ideas? How much of a chance that you could get hsv1 genital herpes. Should I even bother getting an hsv1 igg?
you were negative. if you never had symptoms, no reason to doubt your testing.
Thank you. In one of Terri warren np's post she said captia igg ( from labcorp) should be done at 4 months where quests herpesselect can be done at 3 months. Does this matter?
you don't need exact values when it's negative.
no real need for any more testing at this point.
Excuse me non reactive was for HIV my hsv igg was< 0.91 and as I said there was no specific number like .5 etc.
<0.9 and non reactive. Labcor didn't give an exact number.
what was your result?
