How does herpes work?

So if I received oral sex from somebody who had mouth or genital herpes (I don't know if they did), what would that result in? Would I get cold sores or would it remain on my genitals?

In this case the person would have to have an oral infection for you to get hsv. It would be on your genitals.. Hsv stays in the area It was contracted In. Oral sex is low risk (not no risk) sexual activity. Your chances of getting hsv1 from oral sex is low.
