is herpes a possibility?

Hi
I had a one night stand (protected), 2 months after that i noticed a swelling in my pubic area about an inch above my penis. I thought it was a simple case of an ingrown hair at the time.. a week later i had big pus filled pimple on the swelling. I went to the doctor at that point and he had a look and said to me that it was an infection in my follicles and gave me some antibiotics and an anti bacterial cream to apply. After a few days the pimple burst and there was some liquid that was released and abit of blood followed.. this then subsided.. a couple of weeks later i felt another swelling right next to where the previous one was, so i went back to the doctor and without having another look he put me back on the antibiotics and said its common.. this bump didn't end up in a pimple or anything.. it was just painful when i touch it otherwise no pain, just discomfort. Again it was there for a couple of weeks and the swelling eventually subsided.. i have now had the same thing about 5 times in the last 6 months. They would last a couple of weeks and subside and come back again. Everytime it comes back it seems to be right next to where the last swelling was. These swellings are hard when touched and are the size of half a pea.
I am just getting abit worried because of the frequent recurrences and whether my doctor is just not paying enough attention to my problem. I do intend to go to another doctor but i thought this would be a good place to get a second opinion.
Your help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks alot for your response. I think that helps clear my paranoia of it being herpes. Would you recommend seeing a dermatologist in my case?

With protection the odds of contracting herpes is extraordinarily low.
This symptoms also do not suggest herpes and neither does the location of the symptoms OR the timeframe it which they took to appear.

You can always suggest igg testing or better yet a PCR swab to the doc to confirm.
