That’s a solid positive. It means that you carry the antibodies for HSV2, most often the infection is genital. Even if you have never had symptoms, HSV2 will shed the virus at times without you knowing. This means you are infectious to others .
I assume the test was an IgG?
Make sure the test done was NOT a combined test (meaning they combined index scores for HSV1 and HSV2).
If this was just an HSV2 IgG, then it is positive.
Please speak to your doctor about options if you want to use suppressive medication that can reduce the risk of passing it to other sexual partners.
Numbers don't indicate anything in terms of length of time you've had the virus just means you're positive. If you have reason to doubt this result such as being in a long term monagamous relationship with a partner who's neg, it's possible there was a switch in samples but this is a rare occurrence
