Different Strains of HSVll

I was wondering if there are different strains of HSVll. I know that some people have "classic" outbreaks and sores and some people don't, or even know they care it and never have an outbreak. So, are there different strains where one strain is milder than the other?

it's actually your gene's as to how often you have recurrences. the initial severity of infection depends on your prior hsv1 oral status prior to contracting hsv2 genitally. How severe or mild your symptoms are has nothing to do with the strain of hsv2 you contract.

yes but they are meaningless as to severity of illness.  even people who have multiple strains of hsv2, don't get ob's any more often than folks who don't.

Could it be possible my body is having a hard time fighting off an initial HSV infection? The symptoms come and go throughout the day and get worse by end of day. Then when applying heat I feel better but my eyes swell. Could hsv present itself this way? Is it triggering multiple auto immune diseases? I'm at a loss as to what to do. I have seen 3 Dr.'s this week and seem to think I'm depressed. While I agree to a certain extent this may be the case I'm very concerned and can't seem to "shake" whatever is going on. No symptoms are not constant. Just get worse as the day goes on. I've seen 3 eye dr's and they give me a clean bill of eye health. I get cold hands and feetm brain fog, gerd like symptoms, bide pain under my armpit (applying heat helps) then it travels up my neck/thyroid pain (heat helps) general flushed fash feeling by the end of the day. Rest helps all of this and in the morning I wake up feeling normal besides the extreme eye swelling.

I've seen you posting fairly often, but did you ever receive a diagnosis (positive blood or culture) for either type of HSV?

No and I don't know where to turn anymore. I can't get answers from anyhere. The dr's say I'm depressed. The "guy" says he doesn't know what could b causing this. I'm going to see another family Dr. Today and see what he has to offer. Run blood for hsv HIV and some other stuff I hope. Basically, I keep hearing physically there is nothing wrong but I "feel" all this stuff which doesn't make since. Maybe it isn't sex related but its odd that I have all these symptoms after this. I'm not entirely stressed out I just want answers and move forward whatever it may be. This is 9 weeks of feeling ill. Am I scared? Yes but do nothing isn't going to do anything but make my health worse.

Well, the fact that it's been going on for 9 weeks basically rules out herpes as a potential cause. Are you planning to have final blood testing done at 12 weeks post exposure, so that you can put it out of your mind?

I'm willing to put it out of mind ASAP. I just want to feel better regards of what I have. This is becoming a true nightmare and my Dr.that I saw today thinks it psychosymatic. I wish that were true but everytime I lay down my eye swells up I have a general heavy feeling on my face/throat. Prior to this I was a healthy adult. IF this comes out to be hsv should I see an infectious disease Dr for treatment? In at a loss of how to calm this down if this is what is going on.

you don't need an infectious disease provider for herpes. it's easily managed and easily treated by just general gp's.

really, as we've discussed previously, these aren't herpes issues going on.
