Confused and scared I have Herpes???

I had wanted to do some blood work and got back positive for HSV 1 and 2. HSV 1 was 28.4 and HSV2 was 1.23. I’m wondering if this could be a false positive?? I have never had any symptoms of type 2, and am unsure who I could have got it from. Would a Western Blot test clear up my worries??

Hello there. First off I know this is a bit confusing and your  probably going through a range of emotions. This is what makes HSV testing so complicated.  You don’t actually have to have symptoms in order to have the virus. I know someone who went years without knowing. The person  never had an outbreak until years later. In terms of the test you had do you know if it was an IgG test? Can you recall the last time you could have been  possibly exposed? I’m not sure if 1.23 falls under the inconclusive range or  definitive  positive.  Either way at 1:23 I would advise your doctor for the best advice with moving forward.

Best of luck!
