hsv 2 results 0.9

well i recently went for my annual gyn check up with my gynecologist i told her to test me for everything including all std's. i was worry because i broke up with my boyfriend of 14yrs and slept with someone else, anyway, my results came back as:


hsv type1 igm 0.8
hsv type 2igm 0.9

my dr said i have the virus but i dont understand because she said the numbers were low borderline iam worried because i dont real know the meaning. should i be retested .

please iam freaking out, i dont if it should be something to worry about. now that i think about it this is the first time i got tested for hsv. i wonder how long i had this problem,

my 3 yr OLD SON GETS cold sores often, could i have contracted it thru him

The igm herpes test is a worthless test . Don't ever get it repeated again.   http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/Confusiion-over-other-IgM-Herpes-posts/show/248394 i s a prior post that goes into why it's not worthwhile in more detail.

You need to wait 4 months until you can get a type specific herpes igg blood test that would reflect your status from the encounter you are concerned about.

From what I have been told, those numbers would indicate a negative result.  You would not have the virus.  Grace can let you know more, she is the expert here.
