Could it be Herpes?

I made out with a friend a week ago and then she performed oral sex on me. The next night I started to have flank pain and flu like symptoms accompanied by a cool burning sensation of my penis and in my mouth. 2-3 days later and I now have a sore with a possible bump in throat and enflamed red taste buds. I have nothing on the outside of my mouth or on my lips. Is it possible for this to be HSV 1 or 2? Can HSV 2 occur simply from making out?

I totally agree with Grace that it is unlikly herpes related with your throat issue as first time sores appear at point of contact, which would be your lips.

Thanks for the response. I'm just very worried because of the timing of the symptoms. Also my symptoms don't resemble strep as all I have now is a sore throat, tiny red bumps, tongue tenderness and no fever/flu like symptoms.

Odds are that what you have going on orally is not herpes related. Even though it's summer, cold and flu germs are still rampant and kissing is a great way to transmit them.

go and be seen and have them examine you for strep throat.

In the future, always only give and receive protected oral sex to protect yourself!

The answer is yes, HSV1 and HSV2 can be transmitted orally. HSV infections can even be in your eye! Most Americans do not know how prevalent HSV diseases are, and are spreading them at an alarming rate. When I was infected  2004,(faithful, inside a marriage, thinking I was safe:( the HSV2 rate was 1 in 6 Americans over the age of 12 years old. Now the rate is, 1 in 3 in Metropolitan areas, 1 in 5 in Rural areas. Understand also, that because of the nature of this disease, condoms are ineffective. Please protect yourself and all your future partners, have a STD panel done. This could be another STD too. Health Departments (sometimes free) and Planned Parenthood Clinics do the tests inexpensively, and you can also go to a Family Practice doctor for the normal fees with insurance. Remember, these are serious, very nasty diseases, so do inform every potential partner before intimacy, so they have a choice to stay healthy....and you won't get sued!
