Folliculitis Medical experts I would appreciate a response

I've been diagnosed with vaginal foliculitis but I'm worrying because is it similair to herpes. I have a blister on my clitoris and it's so sore to urinate. Also red sores on the inside lip of my vagina and outside with severe discharge coming from everywhere. There is also pain and swelling around my vagina I'm in such pain with Infection basically. My doctor said he's convinced it's foliculitis from waxing as I have all hair removed and has put me on flagyl yesterday. There is a slight improvement but it's still sore. Is that normal only a slight improvement? I also have a septic throat ATM and what looks like a cold sore on my lip and chin. I'm very run down but have NEVER experienced this before down below. Never!! Not have I ever had a cold sore on my mouth but my doc says that's part of the infection from my throat. What should I do. Is it definately foliculitis? I was put on Klacid on the Monday and I went back myself on the wednesday morning to the doctor, panicking if Im honest because I felt there was no improvement. He then put me on Flagyl alongside the Klacid and said if it doesnt clear we will then do a Herpes check but my doctors words were " I do NOT believe or think this is Genital Herpes". It all cleared. I would really appreciate a response from a medical doctor/practitioner.

The thing about testing as does let us know what we have but docs are pretty good at figuring it out without testing.

Yes it's something I think I will do, however the doctor said if it clears up with the antiobiotics it is fact a bacterial infection as he thinks so no need to worry. I am a worrier by nature hence me posting on this forum. I really appreciate your response. You've been very helpful

folliculitis are inflamed hair folicles and cellulitis is a bacterial infection. Why dont  you have the area swabbed and have a PCR test done to find out exactly what these sores are.

Thank you for your reply. It's just that I've never had anything like it before. I have only had sex with 3 people in my life. 2 very long term relationships and one other person where we were protected. I had a swollen gland on my groin and he said it was a result of the foliculitis from having all hair removed. I suffer from boils and abscesses around my pubic area for years. I was also checked for all stis before I slept with the 3rd person. I don't understand how the folliculitis spread to my clitoris and inside my labia. I heard it is called cellulitis from folliculitis but not sure if that's accurate

Hi, i would go with the doctors opinion and if it did clear up then theres your anwer. Herpes can appear as many things and the best way anyone can confirm their status is a swab of a sore taken withn 48 hours or a blood test 3 months post exposure.
