Responding to this question as well as the ones in your other thread:
Your symptoms and their timing certainly are consistent with new genital herpes. You need to be examined ASAP -- for sure no later than tomorrow (Monday) even though it is a national holiday in the US. Diagnosis of herpes is easiest and most reliable when examined within a couple days of onset; and treatment of the initial infection is more effective the sooner it is started. If necessary, visit an urgent care clinic or emergency department.
You were wrong to end this relationship at this stage, before you've even been diagnosed. But if you stick with that plan, you definitely have to tell him why. Most new genital herpes is caught from partners who don't know they have it, so you shouldn't assume he knowingly exposed you or is being untruthful by saying he is "clean". After you have been professionally evaluated and know the diagnosis -- especially if it is herpes -- you're will be ethically obligated to let him know so he can get tested, potentially inform future partners, etc. And if your relationship with him otherwise has promise for the long term, why would you drop him now? Once transmission has happened, it can't happen again!
Come back with follow-up comments to let us know the outcomes, both medically and in your relationship. Stick with this thread only, please.
Good luck!
And by the way, there is no cause for YOU to be "very embarrassed" when HE is likely the source of your infection!
