Herpes? I need help

Hi friends, A year ago exactly I had unprotected vaginal sex with female, and later found out she was kind of a floosey. 2-3 days after I had a one time white cloudy discharge from my penis, when I woke up and my penis was very sore and uncomfortable and stung when I urinated. I went to the doctor the next morning and he examined my penis said he didn't see anything out of the norm but based on the symptoms I described gave me medication for gonorrhea and chlamydia.

The medication seemed to work for the day or 2 but the general discomfort in my penis remained. but there was no more discharge. I went back 2 weeks later and he I took a urine sample and I tested negative for both gonorrhea and chlamydia, but they did notice a small trace of blood in my urine. There was still a slight burning during urination which came and went for the past 3 months and a slight discomfort after masturbation. My boss from work got me a appointment with a urologist and they put a scope up my penis to check for lesions or problems in the bladder and he said I was fine and chalked the blood in the urine to 'chronic de-hydration" (which I was).

I recently started seeing another girl and first got a blood test and tested negative for HIV, Hepatitis, and Syphilis. I was surprised when I went in to get the results back that they had not tested for herpes. Isn't herpes really contagious and sometimes undetected? Should I go back and get tested for herpes too?

I've never had a herpes sore, blister, of anykind haven't had a fever or sore throat in like 4 years. When I initially when to get tested the doctor checked me for swollen glads and said that everything seemed normal. But sometimes it stings a little when I urinate and my penis and scrotum itch a little bit? Is this normal?

I was never told what exactly what I had and if I've ever gotten rid of it. Is it possible that the initial infection a year ago was actually a herpes sore inside the urethra, causing the one time discharge, blood in the urine and the sore penis? Would this appear after only a day or 2 after sex? The soreness lasted on and off for about 4 months until it just went away.

Should I go another blood test and ask them to be herpes specific?

your symptoms last year don't sound at all like herpes going on.

should you and your new partner both seek out type specific herpes igg blood testing? yes you both should!!  you two can't make educated decisions about what precautions to take together until you know who has what.

I'm not an expert, but the symptoms you described don't sound herpetic to me. However, if it's something that you're worried about, an IgG blood test should be accurate this long after the encounter you're concerned about. If all you had was vaginal sex, you should be looking for answers about HSV-2. The blood test for this is quite accurate, based on what I've read here.

Good luck, and kudos to you for being sexually responsible with your new partner.
