HSV 1 Recurrent Outbreak

2 months ago I went to planned parenthood after I noticed two tiny bumps on my vagina that were a little painful. At first I thought it was a small tear or that I got them from waxing. After a curlture was taken my results came back positive for HSV 1. I am now having my first recurrent outbreak and it is much more painful and many more tiny blisters are present. My question is if recurrent outbreaks can be much worse than primary outbreaks? Everything Ive read online says that with Genital HSV 1 recurrent outbreaks are rare and if they do occur they are much more mild than primary outbreak. Could this be something else? Has anyone else experienced this?

thanks I will be sure to ask them for that. It just seems strange considering everything Ive read about Genital HSV 1. this recurrence isnt terrible but still worse than the initial one I had and according to Dr. H,  2 months is soon for a recurrence. I am always stressed out so maybe this caused a faster recurrence that was more severe.

HHH also answered your question since you paid to post it in his forum too.

make sure when you are seen monday, you get properly tested for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally too. Not unusual for BV to be an issue with recurrences and also an increase in severity of recurrences.

Typically the reoccurances are a little more mild.  But they can still be painful.  You may have something else going on as well.  You may want to see your provider for them to look at it and give their thoughts.
