You'd have to go and be seen when you have the symptoms on your fingers for a thorough work up to find out what is causing them.
This could be hsv1 but odds are it's hsv2 with both of you having it show up in the genital area. Also fyi - herpes in the anal area, is still genital herpes. Doesn't matter where symptoms are down yonder - all the same nerve ganglia.

Thanks Grace and I think I'm gonna get one of those tests anyway just to find out what I've got but it's not really the point of who had it first it's more the point of can a simple couple of ulcers in the mouth really cause this much damage? I also forgot to mention that I also got small lumps on my finger and can be quite sore to the touch but also release a clear puss if I squeeze hard enough, any ideas if this is a related syptom?
i recommend that you both also get type specific herpes igg blood tests done this week too. that will help you with the who had it first if it matters to either of you.

Sorry Grace for my impatience, I was just a little anxious, well I went to see my GP today as I suffered pain for urinating and noticed a ulcer under the foreskin and he diagnosed it by sight as herpes but took a swab of the ulcer and a urethra swab and I should have the results within the week. My partner has had a test run at the hospital today as she was taken in for an unknown illness she's been having, and they say they found the herpes virus, unable to know what test she had done as I haven't had the chance to properly speak to her, hope this helps.
What testing have you both had done?
also please read our read before posting post if you haven't done so already - thanks!

Has anyone got any clues?? I'm only 19 and really freaking out about having to live with herpes.
