Do i have herpes?

Hello Everyone,

So about a month ago I gave oral sex to a man without a condom. About a week or two later I woke up to a burning sensation on the left side of my mouth. I found that one side of my tongue was itchy and when I went to look at it, it had purple/red clustered bumps on it. I thought that it was an allergic reaction but I wasn't sure to what. Then I looked inside of my mouth on the top of my tongue near the back (towards my tonsils) and there were giant inflamed taste buds (or atleast I think thats what it was). I found it odd but wasn't too concerned. Now, about a month later my mouth is still itchy mostly around my lips and my tongue still has the bumps on it. I went to the OBGYN and she said that it looks like herpes because there are tiny white dots on the bottom on my tongue. She swabbed it to test it but I'm freaking out waiting for the results. I think that I could live if I had type 1 but I'm terrified at the prospect of type 2. Please Help!

First off i would much rather have hsv2 oral than hsv1. Hsv2 oral has few to no future outbreaks and sheds so little that passing it to someone else is extremely unlikely. That's definitely not the case with oral hsv2.
Hsv2 can be an oral infection but it's not common at all. The tongue is also rarely infected. All in all hsv2 is a long shot. All you can do is wait for the swab results and go from there

Sorry, it should say not the case with oral hsv1.
Thank you for answering. So just for clarification, you don't think that it is genital herpes in my mouth? Also, do you think that the symptoms sound herpes related? Thank you again!
I am very skeptical of it being herpes. Of course it's possible but the area infected and the odds of it being hsv2 are what lead me to believe this isn't hsv.
Do you think it could be hsv1?
I don't think it is from this exposure. Genital hsv1 sheds very little and isn't very potent when it does.
