Why did two doctor's tell me two different results?

The 12th of July I got my results back from a full work up of STI/STD testing. I found out I had chlamydia and was treated for that. My doctor was out of town so another doctor contacted me who told me I was negative for herpes etc. My doctor called me today almost two weeks later and told me my results came back inconclusive for Herpes2. So I don't really understand why this would happen. I was too in shock to ask my doctor at the moment. She did mention that I could of had a recent exposure and that I need to get tested in another month. But what I don't understand is why one doctor told me it was negative and another told me it was inconclusive? What are the chances of inconclusive tests coming back positive?  Please help!!!!

Also forgot to add that if the First  dr. tested you with an IgG test two soon it may have  produced in conclusive results anywhere from >0.91-1.1. Don’t quote me on that last number(1.1) Unfortunately cannot recall offhand.  Don’t forget that less than and greater than sign! It’s so important when  understanding the index number.  So,  if your results did indeed come back with this reference then your doctors are airing on the side of caution because of the time of your last  possible exposure and the possibility your body could produce positive antibody’s over time with the same test (IgG). So please don’t be alarmed!  At least you have doctors that are consistent!  Let’s say you wait 12 weeks from now or more 6months and retake the test.  If it comes back with a number <o.91 you should be in the clear!  Now let’s say worst-case it still  comes back as in conclusive.  Consult with anprofessional ot or your doctor to discuss further testing  options. Worst case it comes back positive.  Take a breather. Take one step at a time and continue to consult with a professional.  But I am going to root for the best and trust and believe that everything will be OK with your results!   I know the waiting game sucks but believe me it will provide you with peace of mind when it’s all over!

Once again please keep me updated and I wish you all the best!  Hope this was helpful.

Please excuse my typos. I completely forgot I didn’t answer the first part of your question and was rushing.  I meant to say inconclusive and  consult with her professional in the first part of those  tangled words. :-( sorry.
Thank you so much. It helps. I wasn't able to see my actual number results all it said was come back for retesting. The confusing part for me was off the same results I got two different answers. I just left another lab to see what they say because of this confusion with the two doctors. I'm also going to go back to my normal doctor after another month as I was told. From what it sounds like this can be a tricky test. So I'm trying to be 100% about this. Definitely hope it comes back in my favor.
The waiting game is definitely killing me. Especially since the two partners I've had only did the chlamydia test and not the full work up.
I know it’s quite difficult. Science can produce humans and  clone animals  yet we can’t seem to produce a rapid antibodies test for a  virus that’s been on this planet since the beginning of man??!!  It baffles me!!! But your doing the best thing by consulting with true professionals for answers.

Rooting for you!
Thank you. I truly appreciate it
Update:  i got results back and I don't really understand what it's saying. It seems like it's saying negative but also possibility to recent exposure. The numbers were sent to me but I do not know how to post it on here
Okay came back equivalent I'm guessing. It's <.91
"Recent exposure" sounds like you had an IgM. Ignore that if that's what it says. It's an unreliable test and shouldn't be done on adults. Only go by an IgG.
I contacted the lab and they said it was negative but I do go back for retesting the end of August. Also could cramping be a symptom?
It's an IGg test my results were <.91

Hello.  The best advice came from your doctor. You must wait. Retake the HSV IgG test at 8-12 weeks for reliable/ accurate results in order to be on the safe saide.  It takes quite some time for antibodies to produce in the case of herpes. It’s not like  testing for HIV antibodies.  Unfortunately we just don’t have those advanced test as of yet for HSV.  So until then no one likes the waiting game but unfortunately that’s life :-/

I wish you the best of luck!  Please keep us informed!

Hi,  the first doctor saw the results and  the numbers were not positive or  negative he assumed it was negative but the second doctor saw the same results  and was concerned that it might develop to postive if it was a recent infection. I will say that if you did not have any sexual exposure 8 weeks prior to the test its almost certain it will be negative and you dont need another test.

I've had sexual contact who claims he had been tested before any contact with me. Before him and before I was even tested I had sex with another guy about two months ago. My concern is the fact it came positive for chlamydia the chances something else pops up too. I guess now it's just a waiting game. Thanks for your feedback.
