Herpes Culture

I had three sores in genital region recently. I have never had this problem before. My boyfriend was a virgin before me and these sores showed themselves after about 3 months from the first sexual contact I had with him. He denies having cold sores in his mouth recenlty but said he had them when he was a child. These sores were red then turned white. There was a fluid inside them but they were not raised like a pimple. I went to the doctor about a week after they came up because there were no appointment times available before this. They were no longer white at that time. They were just kind of tender and red areas. A culture was taken and it was negative for HSV 1 or 2.

Is it possible that these sores are anything but Herpes. They did seem to clear on their own but my doctor put me on Acyclovir. I haven't had any trouble since but it has only been a month. What do I need to do. My doctor said that I can either wait until it happens again and get in right away or get a blood test. I don't want to believe that I have herpes because my body finally cleared HPV and I was so happy to get that news. I really don't know if I can deal with another STD. Advice please.

No I haven't yet. I plan to. I first have to find out how much it will cost. I don't have good insurance.

if your bf has had cold sores in the past then he has hsv1. he can transmit that to your genital area thru oral sex.

did you get a blood test done for herpes at this point or ever before?
