Herpes: Different results reporting styles?

Hi,

I was tested for HSV1 and HSV2 by Herpeselect with two months difference, coming back both of them negative for HSV2 ( <0.9)
and positive for HSV1, (2.7 and 7.5 respectively) which makes sense to me.

Today, three months after the second test, and being abroad in south America, I was tested again. The doctor was not very knowledgeable about herpes and had to look up the test because she said it was rare. That made me wary.

My results read

IgG 1:80        Reference: negative below 1:10

I thought the results reported in a ratio style correspond to the unreliable IgM test, but I am looking at the results right now and it clearly says HSVII  IgG.

Of course I am freaking out because this means I have HSV2.

My questions are
1. Can igG be reported in both number and ratio styles? If so, what is the correspondence?
2. Do these results mean I have HSV2 now?

Thanks a lot

OK, here back in the US and first thing I did was to get retested with herpeselect.
I am happy to report the test came back negative for HSV2 and positive for HSV1, just like the previous test done in the US
All the best for the community!

A big thanks Grace, it is bringing some peace of mind, and I will surely retest and report back when I am back home.

the older tests like this one aren't very accurate. I'd disregard the results and if you really feel the need to retest , do so when you have access to better testing.
