Scared Strait STD home edition

Hello any doctor who is answering this question. About mid October of 2012 i came down with a mild case of gallbladder induced pancreatitis. since then i am happy to report i have had no further flare ups of pancreatitis and knock on wood that i never will again. anyways since then i have become somewhat of a worry wart and anything i come  down with i jump to google which only further scares the hell out of me. but make a long story short, new years eve 2013 (about 3 months ago) i was at a friends house party, drunk of course, and i met a girl, who also at the time was a bit intoxicated as well. we began by kissing each other which eventually led to me taking her into the bed room. it was there where i preformed oral sex on her for about 3 minutes maximum. no penetrative sex took place, and after i i was done with the oral sex i actually lost interest in the girl because the situation wasn't right and decided to end it there before anything else took place. in the past i have had about 2 or 3 cold sores in total and they have usually flared up after make out sessions with girls. My main worry is that mid afternoon the next day (Jan 1st 2013) i developed a very mild cold sore above my upper lip. i have not really thought about that scenario until recently, reading into the case has made me terrified that the cold sore that developed on my lip the next day was that of a hsv-2 infection and not a hsv-1 infection. i have read that oral hsv2 is rare but i still cannot extinguish the thought from my mind. i do not have any symptoms of genital herpes nor have i experienced anything like it. i also do not know if the girl even has hsv2 or not, but i recall her vagina not having any lesions or sores or else i wouldn't have preformed the oral sex drunk or not. please any reply with advice is appreciative.

it would present the exact same as a hsv1 oral recurrence.

Grace, thank you so much for the reassurance you've really made me feel confident in the situation. Last thing, would an oral hsv2 outbreak be significantly worse than a hsv1 outbreak? And wouldn't hsv2 orally actually be less serious than hsv1 orally because of the fact that it sheds 3 days total

anything that causes irritation to the oral area can trigger them .

not likely you'd contract hsv2 orally.

Thank you so much for your reply, one more question... Is oral sex/making out a common trigger of cold sores? And also how unlikely would acquiring oral hsv1 and 2 even be? Thank you for all your help!

this is not the doctor's forum. you have to pay to post there.

A newly acquired oral hsv2 infection would not show up the next day. this was a flare up of your previous hsv1 oral infection.
