Herpes or Thrush? What could it be?
I got tested for H about almost 2 years ago. I got tested the following day after symptoms showed up (these symptoms were not blisters, more like a load of red dots under the foreskin). I got my test results back from the clinic to find that they were negative?! I was confused as my girlfriend knows she has it, therefore I thought I'd caught it too. I know that false negatives are quite common with swab tests.
I called up the clinic recently and explained to them about my situation. I have had about 4 outbreaks in the first year. Since then, nothing. They told me that they don't do blood tests and that I'd just had to wait until i have another outbreak. Great! That could be years away.
I only seemed to get these symptoms when I was sexually activite with my girlfriend - sometimes straight after sex, then it would disappear over night completely.
My girlfriend and I aren't dating anymore, since then I have had no symptoms. Weird huh?
What could it be?? A friend of mine told me he had these symptoms and that it was thrush. So that got me thinking, could it be thrush? My gf at the time did get thrush a few times.
Any help would be appreciated on what on earth I can do to get this sorted.. Thanks

Is gential herpes permanent? Or its just an STD that can be cured and you know longer haven't after. I know this friend. Just asking
you can't get herpes igg blood tests done at the GUM clinics. you need to seek out a private provider and pay out of pocket. other posters from the UK have no problems getting blood tested when they do that.
odds are this isn't herpes going on but if you had a partner who had genital herpes, following up with testing before moving on to another partner is the best thing to do.

I live in the UK and no where seems to offer blood tests here. I thought that these symptoms after sex weren't like herpes but aside from that the outbreaks I first had lasted 4-5 days. The outbreaks we're totally painless, even my fist one - I didn't anything was wrong until I looked
find a clinic that does do blood testing and go from there. are you outside of the US?
herpes isn't going to appear with sex and disappear a day later. that's irritation, not herpes.
