HSV IGG test

Hi Grace,

I got the result of my Herpes Simplex Virus IgG EIA test and it is positive. But then it says the positive result could be due to either HSV-1 or HSV-2. But I have never had any cold sores or blisters at my genital area. Could this be false negative? Or could i have either HSV1 or HSV2 but have never had any outbreaks? I had unprotected oral sex two months ago, thats why i went for the test. Thanks

Hi, I have the same problems with the visible veins in my hand do you find the reason? It is related with Herpes?

since you had a positive non-type specific test, you really should pursue the type specific testing so you have accurate answers as to your status. your regular partner should also be tested to know theirs too.

I have read tons of Dr. HHH and Dr Hook's comments on herpes. It seems that false positive results are pretty common on HSV IgG blood test because the borderline is too conservative which makes me feel better. But still, I want to go for a specific test just to make sure. Do you think its necessary :(? Thanks

Thx for reading my earlier post and the reply Grace, today is almost the 3 months mark after the exposure, so I went to have my last STDs test. For the test result, can I be a virus carrier which has no HSV1,2 symptoms but still contagious? I'm still worrying because I don't want to take any chance that I may infect my partner...

sounds like you had a non-type specific test done which doesn't give you any answers at all as to your status.

you never had any symptoms genitally so there really wasn't any reason to go for herpes testing from the encounter you posted about to Dr Hook previously.
