online info poor at best

So I have been having sore lips now for a week and a half.  They almost feel chapped, but the vasoline and chap Stix is not working.  I have seen no red sores, blisters or anything, but they continue to burn.  Also have a sore throat and a sore mouth.  The skin actually peeled off on one side of my mouth and for one day my saliva glands on both sides were swollen.  Now the roof of my mouth is sore.  All of this feels like when you burn your mouth on hot soup, but I did not burn my mouth.   Also my eyes feel dry and burning.  Nothing I do seems to elevate the problem.  Every time I look online for what it may be, all it comes up with for sores lips is herpes.   Would herpes cause my lips to be sore for a week and a half like this with no sores or blisters?  Would it cause a sore throat?  Would it cause the inside of my cheeks to be sore, the skin peel and the upper saliva glands to be inflamed?   This seems to be going on for some time, I just keep waiting for sores to appear on my lips...but a week and a half (almost 2 weeks) of continual burning???

Dehydration is the common explanation that I dare say appears on almost ahead of every other possibility. With appropriate care, moistening etc. then things should get better within a couple of weeks. If not, there may be an issue that your doctor can diagnose.

Every time I do a search for sore lips, mouth swelling, peeling etc...the main topics that come up are herpes and canker sores...and I am pretty sure it is not either, so I am trying to find out what it may be!

I do not know what you are reading, but the condition you describe is most certainly not herpes.

Dry lips is usually caused by dehydration that can come from the elements (wind and sun) as well as things like having a cold and breathing through your mouth and licking your lips too much.

This doesn't mean you do or do not have herpes. The conditions you describe are conducive though with someone who has HSV1 to have an outbreak as the skin and broader immune system becomes stressed.

As this has nothing to do with herpes, a blood test for IgG antibodies is required to understand your status.
