yes, having hsv1 can cause a false positive hsv2 igg.
since your hsv2 igg is under 5 and I presume you've had no symptoms, best to seek out confirmatory testing with a herpes WB blood test. For more details, read the testing section in the free herpes handbook by Terri Warren. google it and it comes right up.
Thank you. Yes, no genital symptoms as discribed with a classical outbrrak. I have been killing my brain. Researching and reading everything medically possible. I just dont understand why these thinga arwnt explained during testing.
Ive read more than once people getting false positives. However, it seems anything under 2.0 may be a false positive, anything over 2.0 is a solid positive. But i feel that the index level should be re evaluated since hsv 1 and 2 share 50% of identical DNA. Does this sound clinically sound? With my low level of biological and clinical studies frim researching medical papers and ration findings.
Sorry , anything over a 3.5 being a solid positive
I think at this point you can retest with a different lab for Herpeselect type specific IgG if those give you unclear answers Western Blot would be conclusive
The highest risk of false positives is in results less than 5 which is why I recommended the further testing.
