Sleepless nights due to herpes

Hello Sir/Madam

I am in a deep trauma since the time I learnt I am infected with herpes.

2 years ago, I went for an outing along with my friends and had an intercourse with sex worker with condom, that was my first time.

some weeks latter, I started gets itching around the base of of penis and one day I got small blister on the base of my penis, around 1cm in diameter.

I went to the doctor, and he suggested its a bacterial infection and prescribed me the following ointment,  however I didnt told him that I had an intercource with a sex worker, since that time I wasnt sure wheather it could be because of that.

Decozol Cream (Active Ingredient: Miconazole Nitrate 2% w/w & Preservative  Chlorocresol 0.16% w/w) - this is what is written on the enclosed leaflet of the ointment.

And using this ointment the rash/blister goes away in 3-4 days, but I get rash and blister arround my penis base once in 2 months, and it is been happening from past 2 years now and I'm using the same cream to get rid of it.

Since it was a recoccuring issue after every 2 months, I took to internet and started learning about STD's, and came to know herpes is one of the STD.

I thought of doing a herpes test and got the below report, I'm completely stressed and disappointed with sleepless night regretting the past, please provide me your suggestions on my report.

Hi,

I haven't been intimate with her till now, and her reports are negative, will get the retest for the confirmation.

Have you been intimate with her and if yes, how long after did she test. If you do have hsv2 on the genitals then she would be at risk if she does not have it.If one person has it and the other does not, the relationship is manageble and no need to call off the marriage. Babies is not a big issue either. Bottom line is you need to retest for confirmation. If you dont have a new lesion then have the WB test now.

My would be wife's test results are negative.

Incase I happen to have herpes after repeat test or culture, how risky and serious is it, shall I still go ahead with my marriage or call it off.

I have read I could infect my wife as well as part of unprotected sex.
Will it have any affect on my/my wife or my babies health

You have a hsv2 score that falls into a possibility that it maybe  a false positive. For verifying this you need another test. The best is a culture. When a new sore develops, try to go to a testing lab or your doctor to swabb the sore and do  culture. The culture is famous for showing a false negative but really accurate for showing a positive.
The other test would be a blood test and the best is the Western Blot. Your doctor will know what to do for this test.
Yes i was saying the sore maybe healing by themselves.

If  your getting married you might have your wife test to see her status.

Pls let me know the test and the method which I need to go for.
-what exactly I need to do next time within 48 hrs I develop sore as you mentioned.
-Also do you mean the ointment I am using is actually not doing anything and herpes sore gets cured automatically in my case also, and there is no role of ointment.

I'm too much tense, getting married in another 3 months time, and I don't want my would be wife suffer because of me, Since I seem to be having herpes type-2, I would seek your suggestion, what all other STD tests in addition to herpes should I go for before my marriage.

appreciate if you can list out the test names/methods

Based on that, I shall decide whether I can proceed with my marriage or call it off.

Hi, well both test are in the low positive. As for hsv1, 70% of the adult population would test positve for this and most likely was acquired at childhood.
HSV2 is also low positive and would be recommended a second test by another test means to confirm this. It would be best to have a culture. Next time you develop a sore, within 48 hours have it swabbed and cultured.

Herpes sores to clear up on their own in about a week or 2 with out any ointment.
