Nerve Problems, Twitching, Muscle Loss, Headaches

Anyone with Genital Herpes have any of the issues I've described in the title? Ever since having genital herpes two years ago I've had non stop issues with my body. I've had jittery hands and nerves, muscle loss, terrible pressure headaches, eye pressure, penis burning, mild leg pains and back aches, extremely weak legs, vision loss, memory loss? I find it so hard to believe that people who have genital herpes dont know they have it or dont know something is wrong with them. Ever since my exposure its been hell. I wish this would go away. I'm only 26 years old now and always used to be happy and healthy. The head problems are really what bother me the most, my head feels like its going to explode at times.
What are you genital herpes symptoms?

I agree with you (wnb) and what Badmistake211 said. What you described is exactly my experience over the last 6 years. I posted here 4 or 5 years ago and they dismissed my complaints and claimed that they are not related to HSV-2. Perhaps they thought I'm hypochondriac. I did every test under heaven (lyme disease, vitamin B12 and D deficiency, nerve conduction test, MRI, H.pylori, diabetes, MS, Epstein bar virus test, syphilis, chlamydia, HIV, and every other STDs) and none was positive. In fact, I feel sorry for my insurance company for the needless mountain of tests I wasted their money on. At a time I bypassed my doctor and walked in to an outpatient facility to demand for these tests. I thought of lymphoma, fibromyalgia, and just every other disease related to nerve problems. The only thing positive is HSV-2. Don't mind the medical community - it's either they are in denial or just blatantly refusing to update their knowledge about HSV-2. When people describe their experience and symptoms, a reasonable professional may use them to question his/her knowledge about what is generally known about a disease. Disregarding the symptoms of people in the guise of holding on to outdated knowledge is the greatest danger to intellectual development. While some symptoms reported by people may be related to stress, anxiety, depression or other mental health problems, it should also be reasonably understood that many people reporting similar symptoms are sane and normal. There's still a lot to be known about HSV-2 but the medical or health community appears to be turning deaf ears to reported symptoms by people in the guise of holding on to what they know about it (HSV-2). Everything described by wnb and Badmistake211 are on the money - a quintessence of my experience with HSV-2 over the last 6 years non-stop.

One thing I've realized over the years is that masturbation or rough sex is a trigger for the symptoms or worsening of the symptoms. That is, if you masturbate on a weekly basis, for example, you're likely to experience the symptoms more frequently, because it is possible that your body never have sufficient time to recover from masturbation of a preceding week. (I'm just assuming this. I have no explanation for it but I often notice that the symptoms are mild when I refrain from masturbation.)  What complicates it is the fact that the incessant symptoms are usually not accompanied by any blisters. The irony of it all is that they will disregard this post like every other post they have disregarded in the past.

Wow! I find this so crazy! I am convinced that I may have hsv2 I tested negative 7 weeks after a possible exposure but will retest at 12 weeks. I have been experiencing all of these symptoms and I wish it were just anxiety but I can’t help but feel that that isn’t the case. I have been a pretty fit and healthy my entire life and I know how my body should feel despite being anxious. Crazy that this may be what’s going on with me

I have  hsv2 for 7 months now and I experience all your symptoms. I have had only one blister in my inner thigh and it was painless during my initial infection. Now i never experience blisters. I get muscle twitches, and burning sensation in my groin area, along with single random hives that come and go around my body. Thats it. For like the first 3-4 months i thought i had hiv which caused me the most stress in my life. And i experience tension headache muscle tightness, heart papilations, chest pain joint pain ect.... Once i got over that scare slowly but sure a lot of the symptoms got better. I still get tension headaches but i contribute that to the long term anxiety and stress taking a toll on my body that im still recovering from.

The only symptoms i still get that i never gotten before the infection are random single itchy hives that come and go. Burning sensation in groin area. Mild but noticeable muscle twitches around body.  All of this i am positive is from hsv2. Oddly enough i don't ever get blisters except for the single one that i had in my initial infection. People that have hsv2 are telling you from experience themselves that these are symptoms. If they are mild best to do is dont stress it and continue on with your like since its only a minor annoyance. From what im told it should get better as more time goes by. Cheers.

this is a very late reply but i have experienced much of the same things as you going on about 7 years.  I have also never got positive test results and have seen many disbelieving doctors.  It is a long saga, for most of it I was convinced I had MS.  I now think its HSV (which is btw very likely related to MS).  I think I contracted orally originally and then it spread.  I also think the initial infection managed to get into my central nervous system.

It sucks and is horrible, but people get worse things.  It mostly adds up to a lot of discomfort but not disability.  Just speaking from my experience with it.  Good luck.

Thanks Linda, i know deep down inside that this is hsv2, I understand that no one can be diagnosed online, but you would think after all the people who have negative blood test results and are still having symptoms that the maybe the help on this site would re consider the accuracy of blood test results. Genital herpes affects everyone in different ways. But a lot of my symptoms will match many people who do have it. I really find it so hard to believe that some people show no symptoms because its been Hell for me.

if your providers haven't convinced you yet that this is herpes and 157 posts here on medhelp on various forums hasn't convinced you, I don't know why you think I might suddenly say something different from what I've told you previously and what the paid experts on medhelp have told you.

follow up with a dermatologist regularly. since it's not herpes. continuing to post in this forum isn't going to be worthwhile.

actually the blood tests are fairly accurate. no test ever has 100% accuracy but because it's not something like herpes, most of us never bother to read up and learn that.   they aren't used in the US health department clinics because of money more than anything.  they are more expensive than most of the other testing for other std's so they limit themselves to lesion cultures of active symptoms.

Don’t know if you are still around but really think you need some more research!
Grace isn't around, but consider that this post was written in 2012. At that time, she was correct. More and more clinics are offering blood tests, and they are still pretty accurate. Your symptoms are not indicative of herpes, and just because you don't agree with her doesn't make her wrong.

Grace has done ALL the research, I assure you. She knows what she is talking about, and you should pay attention.
Thank you for the reply, I do appreciate what you guys do and the time and research you guys put in! It just seem I see so many post with similar symptoms as me, that eventually com up positive. It’s been over a year for me with, burning groin, burning feet, sores in mouth, constipation, initial sore throat (still irritated) initial diarrhea, fatigue. But tested negative at 6 month mark, just don’t know what else this could be?
I wish I had answers for you, I really do. Herpes, scientifically, doesn't cause those things. It's not a systemic infection. It's time to see a specialist though, if you haven't already (I can't recall if you have or not, I'm sorry.) Start with a neurologist since you have all the burning, and go from there. Or pick the worst symptoms and start there. Maybe it's a food allergy? You can develop an allergy at any time, and reactions can be systemic.

I do hope you find the cause.

The blood test results aren't accurate. The herpes blood test have the high rate of false positive and false negative thats why not use by any health department (STDs).

How do you believe that this is not genital herpes? I'm sure you have read many posts of people who get negative blood test results many months after they acquired the disease but test positive through swab? I have never had any of these issues until the night I made the biggest mistake of my life. I get penis burning and pain just about every day. My symptoms match many of the people who have genital herpes but don't know it because their blood test results aren't accurate.

continue to follow up with a dermatologist as needed. this is not a herpes issue so this forum can't help you any more than it has in the past with this issue.

I never had a swab test for the follicle type things, I get them mainly in the pubic hair area, an the back of my thigh and buttocks at times. My scalp is another issue I seem to find them on there all the time.

I dont believe my blood test results, I've had non stop issues since the one protected night with a stripper. I cant believe this is not herpes, my symptoms match up to many others who are positive for HSV2. Penis burning, and follicle type pimple things in the genital area, I've had a few in the pubic area and a few on the back of my thigh. They werent really painful but they werent normal. I'm even afraid that somehow it has transfered to my scalp, I never had issues with my scalp before now its every day I find these bumps on there.

we' ve discussed your situation multiple times in the past. you really have to stop thinking that herpes is the cause of all of this.

You can still be healthy, mate.

HSV is a virus that occasionally gives you blisters. That's it.  Yest there's no cure, no that doesn't mean you'll be stigmatized and rejected unless you choose to stigmatize yourself.

Don't read up on first reactions (suicide, hopelessness, despair and disgust)--read testimonials on people who have had it for years and decades.

Consider it like high blood pressure.

You say you're healthy and the good news is that this ....if HSV..just gives you more reasons to be healthy.

For every person who gets first break out symptoms, 4 don't . Divide the number of partners by 5 and that number is the amount of HSV-2 positive people you've statistically slept with.  Remember 4/5 adults have HSV-1 and we almost all have Chicken pox.

Don't let this kill your mood. Just get educated, go to a doctor, and then go on with your life.

Regarding your sex life: has knowledge of condom use ruined your sex life?

Breath, and wait for the doctor to tell you what you have.

Then just take care of yourself like you are right now.
