Are Equivocal changing to negative HSV2 IGG results hard of?

I had a sexual encounter in January, i was scared to death of catching something,  so two weeks after exposure i got tested.   As you can figure all results were negative,  with the exception of HSV1 which I've had for many years.     Fast forward to 5 weeks 4 days post exposure,  took another panel and all neg EXCEPT HSV1& 2 this time.   My IGG for HSV2 was 1.03.  A week later I took two different tests, one at my doctor's office,  officially and one at an independent lab just for comparison.   Independent lab was an IGG of1.06 and Dr's office was an IGG of 1.08.  Dr's office considered me positive and started me on valtrex, daily dose because of current partner being negative.   Fast forward to now,  12  weeks and 2 days post exposure,  got an HSV2 test and the IGG results were .78, in the NEGATIVE range.   I'm happy that it's negative but I'm concerned that it's not truly negative due to the equivocal results.   I never had the typical herpes outbreak of lesions and the like but I've also heard that HSV2 symptoms can be muted in HSV1 positive people.

Has anyone heard of this happening?

You didn’t say with the exposure in January was but I’m assuming it was unprotected sex? Oral sex? Because you tested two weeks after the encounter, that would’ve been way too early for antibodies to show up on an HSV igg test. You then tested two more times it looks like at week four and week five, in the equivocal range. Then tested at 12 weeks negative. Please let me know if this is correct? While your earlier equivocal tests could have been false positives, it’s hard to say because you went on antivirals. How long did you take the antivirals for? Did you take them up till the time of your 12 week test? Meaning, essentially took anti vitals for 5-6 weeks?  Taking HSV antivirals can definitely impact your testing. They stop virus replication, therefore could affect the antibodies being spotted on a test. Please let me know for how long you have taken the antivirals and if you continue to do so. Have you had any symptoms? Anything worrisome? This very well could be a false positive but being on any type of medication might impact your results. If you don’t have any symptoms and are currently taking antivirals, my suggestion would be to go off them for a month or two and Retest and see what your score is. Only test using IgG.
