Is this a herpes? Unusual symptoms. Please help!

Hello,
I am a 25 years old male, in good health. I am non smoker and non drinker.
About 40 days I had a sex relation with a girl who did oral sex to me. Oral sex only. At this time I was unaware about the herpes virus and how contagious it is. I was without a condom of course during the oral intercourse.
Few days ago (40 days after the oral sex with that girl) I noticed a large and unusual bump in the area of the penile raphe  (between the anus and the scrotum). I tried to squeeze it. Probably I infected it and it began to hurt and enlarge its size. I decided then to rapture it the day after with a sharp needle. I could squeeze a little bit colorless like water liquid (lymph probably). Then the bump became really infected and some pus was coming out when I squeezed it.  I started to treat it with over the counter antiseptics – like Neosporin.
Two days after that the bump began to shrink and the infection disappeared by itself.
Unfortunately later I realized that the infection has spread to the region of my anus.  I noticed that there are about 8 smaller bumps - all are located NOT TOGETHER around the anus and between the buttocks. These bumps look like the chicken pox sores – NOT like the typical herpes simplex  group of small blisters.
I found few pictured that are very similar to my condition:

Three to four days after these bumps appeared around my anus, they developed a whitish crust and are filled with pus.  Three of the bumps are bigger than the rest  (penny size). I am in pain that sporadically goes into burning and itching. I cannot sleep at all because the pain/ itch are bothering me all the time. I am trying to get a relief with Cortizol crème, but it does not help at all.
The only relief comes when I soak myself in warm water.
I have no other symptoms like burning sensation by urinating.  I have no outbreak on the penis, no pain on the penis – nothing strange or uncommon. I don’t have fever. The only problem is these burning and painful bumps around the anus and between my buttocks. I am almost 100% sure that the infection spread after I tried “to cure” the first larger bump on the penile raphe area.
Ok, this was the pre-history of my problem – now to the question…

Could the herpes virus appear around the anus only when other symptoms are not present? (If there are sores around the anus and the other symptoms are not present.)
I will be very grateful for every help or advance!
Thank you,
Worried man

Hi Grace,

On Monday I am going to a doctor and will do all necessary tests.
Is it possible that the first symptoms of herpes are bumps (like boils) around the anus?
They started to appear under the skin. The bumps looked like boils at the beginning. They are not very painful by themselves, but because they are located between my buttocks, the whole area became irritated (redness, itching, burning).
After two or three days the biggest ones formed some white crust (like blisters).

Thank you!

going monday to get a lesion culture will be too late. It's unfortunate that up until now no one did one. Due to the length of time since symptoms started as well as now you are on antivirals - even if this is herpes, the lesion culture is most likely to come back as hsv negative.  I recommend you get a baseline herpes igg blood test monday so you have something to compare the results to a few months from now.

I would stop using the topical steroid if you haven't already.

This could be bacterial - mrsa infections are quite common in that area in adults.  It also could be any number of things.  I wouldn't try to convince yourself too much that it HAS to be herpes.

Thank you for your advice.
I was yesterday to the ER. The doctor took a fast look at the infected area and thought this was cellulites.  I specifically asked if this could be a herpes - he was pretty sure that it is some other kind of infection. He prescribed me an antibiotic – Septra. At this time the edjes of the bumps did not have white crust. They looked like pimples, but 3 of them were pretty big.

My condition did not change for 20 hours and the pain and the itching even increased. I returned today to the ER and asked directly for a remedy against herpes. This time the doctors prescribed antiviral – Acyclovir. They did not examined me throughout - again just a close look.
After I returned at home I noticed that the biggest sores have ruptured because of the walking around and the driving.
I took 2x200MG tablets of the Acyclovir+ 2 tablets extra strength pain reliever. I took some Vitamin C tablets also. Half an hour after that I felt better – the pressure, the pain and the itching are almost gone.
On Monday I will go and test myself for genital herpes (biopsy). Hopefully it is some other kind of infection.
I will keep you posted. The hope dies last. :(

It does sound like Genital Herpes to know for sure though go to a Doc. an get the sores tested or go get a Herpes Blood Test if the sores are no longer present to confirm thats what you have but by your description it sounds like Herpes. If it is Herpes you didn't spread it when you tried Popping it when you touched the sore you must of touched the other part of your body cuz thats how Herpes is spread. If you touch the sores do not touch anywhere else on your body till you wash your hands with warm water cuz it will possibly spread to whatever area you touch. Do not try to pop the sores cuz it will just take longer to heal an it will just hurt more as you experienced. They have medications that you can put on the sores to help relieve itching an make them heal faster. From what ive been reading Herpes effects every person differently so you could just have those symptoms an nothing else just like some people never even develop sores hope ive helped.
