Low Positive Result for HSV-2

Hi, 28 y/o male. I just got tested for everything in the book and to my surprise and dismay I got a positive result for HSV-2, but it was just barely. My IGG was 1.2, which even my doctor said is really low and something he's not seen before. I was negative for HSV-1. My doctor, who I will admit doesn't seem too knowledgeable about many things (VA doctor), said I have herpes, but if I wanted I could get tested again, which I said I did want. He recommended a month from the first test.

Here's my dilemma; I've seen on here on several occasions that a low positive result could mean it's a false positive and that if you have one you should definitely get another test. I think the one I took was a blood test for IGG, but I'm not sure the VA can do the others.
I'm just hoping that it was a false positive, since it was literally right on the brink of it and I have never had symptoms of herpes before in my life.

Please let me know what you think, and thank you. If you need more information, just ask.

No real risk in any of that.

This makes it even more likely to be a low false positive.

Would protected sex and then a handjob with saliva somehow be a risk for contracting HSV-2? Completely safe sex, minus the handjob with saliva used as lubricant.

There are igg and igm bloodtests. You only want igg as igm tests are unreliable. That being said your low positive has over a 50/50 chance of being false. Igg hsv2 tests are very sensitive and it can pick up odd protiens or hsv1 antibodies. Anything less than a 3.5 is suspect and needs more testing. Get another igg blood test in a few weeks. If that one is negative you're good to go. If it is still in that low positive range then seek out tbe westernblot from the universaty of Washington. This is the gold standard and the best testing available. We will cross that bridge after your next test if necessary.
Think of the numeric value of the test as a confidence number. The higher the number the more sure the test saw the correct antibodies. When was your last exposure

I've been in a monogamous relationship for a little over five years. She has not had any symptoms as well, but will be getting tested soon. We had sex about a month ago.
