18-24 months after exposure

"I was exposed to HSV2 without my knowledge approximately 3 years ago while separated from my partner.  I was told a few days after the event. I spoke to a counselor and he calmed me down and said it was highly unlikely I was infected because the other person was not symptomatic and told me to wait before I tested. I never tested and have since been back with partner. I have never seen or felt any symptoms, nor has my partner. I went today to get test (IgG HSV2) just to ease my mind once in for all. I feel I am not infected and need this test to verify that. What is anyone's thought on the matter?"

Thank you.  Was I stupid to get tested at this point?  Maybe I should have just let it go.  But I did it and can't take it back.  Much like the mistake.  Terrible guilt.

Hi, contracting herpes from a one time affair with no vaginal sore at the time the risk would be close to zero. Nothing at all to be overly concerned about.
